Our Own Experiences

We are a group of young, diverse adults who have experienced stigma associated with mental health — whether through our own personal journey or the journey faced by friends or family. These experiences have challenged us, filled us with anger, doubt, and sadness. But most importantly, these experiences have broadened our perspectives and strengthened our resilience.

Our Own Hope

You are not alone and we want to help. We realize that the most effective way to help is by starting the conversation. Through open discourse, we can eliminate mental health stigma in our community.

Our Own Mission

To create an environment of trust and support for people impacted by mental health issues through open dialogue, education, empowerment, and positive change.

Open dialogue

Through honesty and acceptance we hope to foster conversations about individual experiences. These conversations are vital for revealing truths about mental health for all of us.

We will share the latest research, knowledge, and our own personal stories, with the goal of eradicating assumptions, promoting truth, and encouraging thought.

Through open dialogue and education we hope to inspire you to act. Whether it be seeking help, continuing to learn, or joining the conversation, each one of us has the power to make a difference.

Positive Change

Through our fundraising, community activism, and diverse perspectives, we hope to change the way about which mental health is thought, discussed, and treated.

Strength In Our Voices is not a 24-hour helpline, nor are we trained mental health professionals. If this is an emergency, or if you are worried that you or someone you know may be at risk for suicide, please call your local authorities (911), contact a mental health professional, or call and talk to someone at
1-800-SUICIDE (784-2433).
